Hagia Sophia is an active mosque. Modest dress is required for all visitors regardless of gender or religion.

Women's Dress Code

Allowed

  • Head covering (scarves provided free)
  • Long sleeves or 3/4 sleeves
  • Long skirt or trousers
  • Loose-fitting clothing

Not Allowed

  • Sleeveless tops or tank tops
  • Shorts or miniskirts
  • Transparent or tight clothing
  • Low necklines

Men's Dress Code

  • Long trousers
  • T-shirt or shirt with sleeves
  • Smart casual wear

  • Shorts above the knee

Shoes must be removed (bags provided)
